FIRE crews are tackling a blaze at a paper recycling factory.
The blaze was reported to the fire service at about 10.50am today, at the factory on Deeside Industrial Park.

The blaze at the recycling plant Paperback, a supplier to Kimberbly-Clark, has gutted the entire building, and is continuing to rage. People from nearby buildings have been evacuated, and a fire service rapid response vehicle has arrived at the scene.

On arrival at the collection and recycling plant, the fire was well alight and had spread throughout the premises. The building is approximately 80m by 40m in size and 15 m high.

Everyone inside had been safely evacuated from the building as well as from the nearby buildings.

It is not thought that there are any hazardous materials involved but the advice from firefighters at the scene is for residents nearby to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution due to the smoke.

Six appliances are in attendance at the scene - two from Chester, two from Deeside, one from Flint, one from Buckley and an aerial ladder platform and incident command unit from Wrexham.

Ian Williams, the operations commander at the scene, confirmed that work is still ongoing to put out the fire.

He said: "We are working with the owners of the premises. No one has been reported as injured.

"Gas and electricity suppliers have been called to the scene to assist in closing down supplies to the premises. The Environment Agency have been informed and North Wales Police and Ambulance are in attendance."
